Three Types of Gamblers
In the world of gambling fraternity, gamblers are divided into three classes of which each of them have their own reasons and motives of why they gamble.
The first one is the low risk gamblers or the casual gamblers. People who belongs to this category take the word gambling as what it is defined, they take is as a sport. These people play casino card games on special occasions only, just like a social event. They place a wager along with their family, friends and relatives of which all of them do have the same motive for gambling. For these people, gambling is a skill which is quite necessary for them to be recognized as people of the world, however, they do it in moderation. These are the people who know how to draw the line to separate fun and real life. Meaning, they know when to stop gambling.
The next types of gamblers are those called problem gamblers or habitual gamblers. People who belong in this category are those who see gambling as a serious activity and not just a simple pastime. For these people, it is a habit that they cannot flush out of their system easily, because they take gambling seriously, and that they gamble for the sake of gambling itself; to risk and get money from it. The reason why they are called habitual gamblers is that gambling is now consider a habit, which is quite a serious issue in the society.
The last types of gamblers are the pathological gamblers. People who belong to this category are those people who are very compulsive when it comes to gambling. Pathological in the psychological aspect is defines as the compulsion characteristics. This is characterized by the ability to resist an overwhelming desire or an irrational desire. Therefore, pathological gamblers are those people who are attracted irrationally to gambling and that they have lost their judgment power to know whether its time that they stop playing. These people are sometimes called gambling addicts. People who fall in this pit need to be diagnosed well and need some serious intervention.
Gambling is a word that relies on the perception of people who indulge into this. It is in their own reasons that gambling becomes what it is to them. Gambling is not a bad habit; it only becomes a deviation to the social norm when a person gambling is becoming compulsive and that he or she is already out of control.
